Karen Logged On and Logged Out of Her Mind
So today, I had one of those social media moments that starts off like a regular scroll and ends with you wondering if Wi-Fi is just a gateway for racism.
This white woman—let’s call her Karen, because the shoe fits and she’s wearing it proudly—decided to come for me in a comment thread. Not just me, but my daughter’s mother too. Out of nowhere, she typed (with full confidence and zero self-awareness) that my daughter’s mom was either a street walker or a drug addict. Then she added that I was living off FAFSA and would “never get my PhD.”
Mind you, this woman has a Black daughter. Yes. A Black daughter. And she proudly declared that her child is “part of the 1%.” The 1% of what? I still don’t know. The 1% of kids whose moms embarrass them online? The 1% of people who think racism is just “being honest”? I’m open to theories.
Now here’s the kicker: my daughter has been playing AAU soccer since she was seven. She’s now at a university, known across Florida’s soccer scene like she’s the Beyoncé of midfield. And guess what? Karen’s daughter played soccer as well. My daughter recognized her. People know both of them. Coaches, parents, players—they know my daughter’s talent and they know Karen’s daughter too. And they definitely saw that comment.
Let’s just say it didn’t go over well.
The text messages started rolling in like a group chat after a bad breakup. People were not having it. Some were shocked, some were furious, and a few just dropped popcorn emojis and watched the meltdown unfold. Because when racism shows up in a comment section, it doesn’t whisper—it performs.
And I’m not letting it slide. Her daughter deserves to know what was said. Because if you’re going to raise a Black child, you better not be out here disrespecting Black families. Especially not mine.
I’m still here. Still parenting. Still grinding toward that PhD. And while Karen’s out here trying to gatekeep success with her keyboard, I’m living proof that resilience doesn’t need her approval.
So yeah—today, Karen showed her true colors. And thanks to social media, everyone saw them in HD.

August 30, 2025Smh, no matter how much time changes they will never change. The fact that she has a black daughter and on her instagram she is with black friends. I wonder if the black kids parents know this woman is like this.

August 30, 2025Lol she didnt think this through at all. People do not realize how small the world is and who knows who. She is going to shit a gold egg when she finds out who you really are.

August 30, 2025See this is why I dont trust them now. Smh and then have the audacity to have a black child while talking bad about another black person who is dead and had nothing to do with the conversation at all. She even tried to erase the comment. Im glad you saved it..

August 30, 2025She still going on, talking about you dont do research. Does she not realize that we go to school with you? This chick is crazy. You should post your personal website to shut her up. I know you though, you are going to let her sit there and self destruct. LOL. I would quit if I was her, she just making it worse.

August 30, 2025Lol she tried to clean it up and say “white women use drugs too”. She can see like everyone else your daughter is 100% black so why would she even make that comment about white women using drugs? She knew your daughters mom wasnt white. Smh see how evil and how much of liars they are?
